Havre, MT – Saturday night Havre High hosted the Cowboys of Miles City to open conference play.
The Blue Pony girls were in a close battle to start but eventually pulled away for a 68-40 win. Havre finished the games with four players scoring in double figures including Senior Amaya Jarvis leading all scorers with 24 points.
Tahlyn Olson finished with 12 points Hella Harber chipped in 13 points and Katie Tilleman put up 10 for the Blue ponies.
Havre high boys were in a tightly contested battle with the cowboys from tip to buzzer. Havre trailed at the end of quarter number one 15-14 before outscoring Miles city 13-11 in second to take a 27-26 lead heading into the break.
In the third it was more of the same and the Blue Ponies as they outscored the Cowboys 14-13 to extend their halftime lead to two points 41-39. The forth quarter saw a Kash Keller and Dax Oswalt take over as they combined 16 of the Blue Pony 21 points to secure the 62-54 8 point victory.
