Charles Henry Wells was 96 years old. He was born on July 11, 1930, in Havre, Montana, and passed away on August 25, 2026, at home in Polson, Montana. Charles was the youngest of four siblings. Raised on a ranch on the Rocky Boy Reservation. Charles went to school and eventually worked the ranch and then was drafted into the Korean conflict (war) earning Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his valor while being a machine gunner during the duration of his deployment. After the war, he worked various jobs, including working for Boeing in Washington and jobs in California and Oregon, and ended up back in Montana as an Operating Engineer in construction. Charles loved to play guitar and sing all around Montana. He loved to share his music with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Alex Wells and Virginia Kline Wells, along with his brothers, Clarence Wells and Peter Wells; sister, Matilda Converse; daughters, Jenny Wells and Laurie Brady; and his wife, Carolyn Randa Wells. We are all going to miss our lovely patriarch. His Children; Charles Warren Wells, Mona Wells, Ivy Wells, DeDe Wells, Charlene Wells, Dolly Zambrana, Charles Robert Wells, Robert Randa. He was grandfather to Jackie Coffman-Kuntz, Rachelle Biggle, Selena Sandman, Robyn Nichols, Brandon Zambrana, Anthony Zambrana, Michael Zambrana, Shelby Nielsen, James Nielsen, Joey Parnell, Bryan Brady, Jamie Brady, Jenny Brady, Jeremiah Randa, Jazmine Randa. Charles was great grandfather to Oak Pitzer, Sharon Zampich, Zachary Zampich, Dominick Zampich, DeJeaun Biggle Jr, Alaina Biggle, Jackson O’Connell, Oscar Laughlin, Oliver Laughlin, Rowan Randa. He was uncle to Norman Converse, Eddie Converse, Leonard Converse, Wilman Wells, Carl Wells, Mary Corcoran. Heaven has received back one of their angels that was placed here on earth and brought him home to be with his family there.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., and a short service will be held during the visitation at 2:30 p.m., all at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will take place at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Missoula, on Tuesday, September 1st at 1:30 pm.
