ROCKY BOY, Mont. (NMB) – Due to the latest COVID-19 developments on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation, the Chippewa Cree Tribe has announced that a 72-hour shutdown of the Reservation has been issued.
The shutdown, which will begin at 10 PM on Sunday evening and run through 6 AM on Wednesday, was announced on Facebook by Tribal Chair Harlan Baker.
Essential operations, staff and services will resume on Wednesday.
Baker says following the shutdown, checkpoints will be more strict and other actions such as the Reservation’s mask mandate and stay-at-home order will continue.
Baker adds that he hopes this lock down will allow contact tracers time to do their job, and hopes it will protect people on the Reservation, especially elders and other at-risk populations.
