Havre, MT – In both high school and college sports, the word student is often forgotten when describing athletes. As a student athlete at Havre high school Dax Oswalt, made sure his academics were never shoved aside or forgotten.
Oswalt led the Blue Ponies in scoring a season ago and will be heading to Nebraska to play basketball for the Midland University Warriors. Head coach of Midland Tyler Erwin saw that Dax Embodied the definition of student athlete, making him stand out.
“He’s a good student. That’s probably another thing gravitated towards me is, I think he is going to bring 15, maybe 18 college credits. He is a good student. He is motivated. He is kind of looking into our business finance. That’s another thing that coach Burgess (Havre head coach) and I spoke about is that he understands basketball could be an avenue for him and you’re going to school to get your degree.”
Coach Erwin continued to say that being a good student will always attract coaches at the next level of any sport.
Oswalt was one of five seniors that left the Blue Pony program last season.
