(Hi-Line) With the aversion of a federal government shutdown also came what some might call a Christmas gift: the extension of the farm bill until September of 2025.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Klayton Lohr, President of the Montana Grain Growers Association, for comment on the bill’s extension.
“This extension extends the Farm Bill that was put in place in 2018. It had previously expired at the end of September of 2024. While it is good to see an extension here and see that the government didn’t shut down, because if that would’ve happened we would’ve reverted back to laws set in place in 1938. This is better than the alternative, but of course we’re still working on getting some things in place”
