(Listening Area) Governor Gianforte sent a request to the White House Friday to ask that President Joe Biden issue a presidential major disaster declaration due to flooding in Montana that occurred in early May.
The governor’s request is for the counties of Blaine, Chouteau, Fergus, Hill, Judith Basin, Petroleum, Pondera, Teton, Toole, and Wheatland along with the Rocky Boy and Fort Belknap Reservations.
In the letter, Gianforte says that the request hopes to continue repairs that are already being done, saying it will take “time, funding, and engineering support” in order to restore damaged areas to pre-disaster conditions.
