HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council met on Wednesday evening and approved a series of budget items by unanimous vote.
Four resolutions levying and assessing taxes were approved. These are for maintaining street lights, maintaining streets, defraying the cost of the Bull Hook Maintenance Project, and defraying the cost of Solid Waste Services. These are approved annually, and taxpayers will see a a total increase of less than 50 cents from the previous fiscal year.
Also adopted was the final budget for the 2021 fiscal year, which runs from July 1st, 2020 to June 30th, 2021. The budget is similar to the previous fiscal year, but with slightly higher property taxes. Homeowners will see a $6.50 increase in property taxes for a home valued at $100,000. This is due in part to a slight decrease in non-tax revenue and taxable value for Fiscal Year 2021.
Andrew Brekke and Derek Eldridge were the two council members not present at the meeting.
The Havre City Council will next meet on October 5th.
