(Havre) The Havre City Council met for their monthly meeting on May 6th, with an attendance that filled the City Court Room to standing room only for most of the duration.
The reason for most people’s attendance was to give public comment on the ongoing Boil Water Advisory that’s affecting Havre, issued April 18th this advisory suggests that all users of the city water boil their tap water for at least a minute before consumption.
The City Council heard comment from nearly 30 members of the public, some airing grievances about the water supply, saying they’ve been sickened or otherwise affected by the water. Others came to the defense of the cities water plant, saying that this was a “perfect storm” of things that caused the issue and that trust in the water supply should not be broken.
Members of the Council will reconvene again for a Parks and Recreation Committee meeting on Thursday, May 9th and again on Monday, May 20th to continue to address this issue.
The next official Havre City Council meeting is June 3rd.
