The Havre Lady Blue Ponies picked up a victory on Thursday night in a standalone game against the Malta M-Ettes, (60-34). Havre moved to (6-0) on the young campaign.
After a slow start to the game in which 11 total points were scored by both teams, Havre able to utilize both their offensive and defensive strengths against Malta.
The Lady Blue Ponies held the M-Ettes to two total points in the third quarter and played great defense on Malta’s best scoring threat, Neva Jacobson, forcing her to turn the ball over frequently and seeing only four points total on the board.
The Lady Blue Ponies scored individually in bunches. They got 16 points out of sophomore guard Amaya Jarvis, including 12 in the 2nd quarter. She went on her own 9-1 run to start the frame and at one point had scored more points by herself than Malta’s entire team had. Sophomore forward Ariana Gary had eight first quarter points and senior forward Emilee Chambliss put up a 7-point third quarter.
Havre is in the midst of a three game stretch in as many days and will have more road tests this weekend at Hardin on Friday and at Custer County on Saturday. Listen to both those games on KOJM-610AM.
