Havre, MT – Saturday afternoon Havre High Softball opened the weekend securing their first victory and defeat.
The Blue Ponies opened with the East Helena Vigilantes and started out slow falling behind 6-1 after one inning. Despite the slow start Havre put up 8 runs through the last three innings to come from behind clamming the first win of the season 12-10.
However, the Ponies were unable usurp Dillion in the second game of the day getting mercy ruled 13-1. Havre High head coach Tony Vigliotti said he had a lot to happy with coming out of the first weekend.
“You know I was pleased. I thought the first game we battled. All three of our pitchers, two sophomores and on junior it was really their first varsity experience. We made some young mistakes which is going to happen all stuff that we can work on, so overall pleased with the weekend.” Said Coach Vigliotti.
Next up The Blue Ponies will host Fergus in their home opener on Tuesday April 7, with varsity first pitch at 5p.m.
