Havre Tennis Results – Dawson County and Miles City Invites

The Havre tennis teams competed in southeastern Montana over the weekend. Here are some notable performances that the individuals showed in the final regular season tune ups before divisionals:

Against Dawson County, the Blue Ponies remained strong in boys’ doubles. The Spangler brothers (6-1, 7-5), Reid Kato and Callen Stoner (6-0, 6-1), and Mason Kinsella with Carton Chagnon (6-4, 6-0) each won. Jackson Headdress played a decisive match against Dawson, winning (6-2, 4-6, 7-5).

The Havre girls’ took three of four singles matches against Dawson. Heather Herring was a winner, (6-2, 6-0) and so was Tyley Hemmer in straight sets (6-4, 6-3), while Lindsey Leinwand dropped the first set but came back, (3-6, 6-3, 6-4). In doubles, two Havre teams got victories in lengthy third sets. Leinwand and Chloe Bricker were winners, (6-4, 3-6, 10-8), while Alera Chandler and Mylee Shennum got a (4-6, 6-3, 10-7) win.

In round two against the Red Devils, Headdress earned another singles victory, (6-4, 6-2). Max Spangler was a singles winner, (6-4, 6-3), while Carter Spangler was also in the win column, (6-2, 6-2). The doubles teams of Kato and Stoner (6-3, 2-6, 10-5) and Kinsella with Chagnon (6-3, 2-6, 10-8) were also victorious.

Moving on to Miles City, Arielle Kaftan and Jaidyn Cole were winners in girls’ doubles for round one, (6-2, 7-5). The Havre boys’ doubles teams swept with the Spangler brothers (6-2, 6-2), Kato and Stoner (6-2, 6-3), and Kinsella with Chagnon (6-4, 6-3) all winners.

In Miles City, Havre again played Dawson and girls’ singles winners in round three were Herring (6-4, 6-2) and Hemmer (6-1, 6-1). Headdress won his singles match for the boys’, (6-4, 6-2). The Blue Ponies doubles teams of Kato and Stoner (6-3, 6-1) and Kinsella with Chagnon (6-3, 6-2) also beat their Red Devils’ counterparts. The Spangler brothers moved on to round four of the Miles City invite and beat two Billings Central competitors, (6-3, 6-3).

Havre tennis will be at the Eastern ‘A’ Divisional Tournament, which is scheduled over two days starting Friday in Glendive.
