HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commissioners met on Thursday morning for their weekly business meeting and approved several grants by unanimous vote.
The first grant the Commission voted on was the approval of the environmental assessment for a $270,000 grant from the Department of Commerce through the Delivering Local Assistance program for communication improvements to the Hill County Detention Center. There will be no environmental impacts for this project, which is hoping to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
Also approved was the renewal of the Stone Garden grant that the Hill County Sheriff’s Office has utilized for at least the last 15 years. This grant, which provides $125,000 over a three year period, allows the Sheriff’s Office to augment security on the northern border by paying for vehicle maintenance and overtime for extra patrols.
The final grant approved was for $58,008 through COVID Emergency Supplemental Funding to provide personal protective equipment, sanitizer, remote training and meeting applications.
