(Havre) – The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday Night. The meeting starting with the presentation of the Pony Pride Award to Mike Nissler who works for the Havre Public Schools grounds department.
New business started with Havre High School Activities Director, Mark Irvin, making a presentation to the board about proposals that will be discussed at the Montana High School Association Annual Meeting later this month. Next, the board passed a slew of new and revised policies on first reading. The board will revisit these policies at their regular February meeting on second reading. Finally, a request was made by Havre Middle School to approve out of state travel, for a educational trip. The board passed the request unanimously.
In his report, Superintendent Brian Gum discussed the enrollment trends for the district, and provided an update about how the stage in the Havre High School auditorium needs to be repaired before the start of the 2024-25 school year. Next the Superintendent updated the board on the COPS grant the district received, then let the board know that the hope is to have a proposed 2024-25 school year calendar for the board to discuss in February. Mr. Gum also updated the board on the accreditation process the district is currently engaged in. Finally, Havre Public Schools Assistant Superintendent and District Clerk Brad Moore updated the board on where the financial investments the district has currently stand and how the district plans to proceed with these investments.
The next regular meeting of the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees will be on Monday February 12th, 6:30pm at Havre Middle School.
