Lady Beeters Basketball Championship Bound Again

The Lady Beeter basketball team appeared in the first girls’s semifinal of the Northern ‘B’ tournament in Malta on Friday night. In a fourth matchup with Shelby, it was Chinook again on top, (47-41).

Chinook couldn’t stop Shelby’s stud duo of Elly McDermott and Hadley Clary in the first half as the Lady Coyotes took a (10-7) lead after one quarter. The Lady Beeters opened the second on a tear, going on a (9-2) run before Shelby called for time. It was all Lady Coyotes to end the half as they answered with 10 of the last 12 points to lead, (22-18) at halftime.

Good adjustments out of the break led to Chinook tying the game at 22 before Shelby pulled away again on a (6-0) run. Chinook answered with the last seven of the quarter for a (29-28 lead) heading into the final frame.

Like the start of the third, the fourth was also all Chinook early on, only this time not letting the opponent back into things. Alexus Seymour was the only Beeter in double-figures, scoring 12 points.

Chinook will meet the Malta M-Ettes in the championship game, set for Saturday around 8pm. The game will be carried on KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com.
