Montana Medical Association Urging Vaccination, Masking to Combat COVID-19

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Montana medical and nursing organizations representing thousands of health care practicioners across the state held a press conference on Thursday to urge the public to protect themselves and their communities by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask due to the increased spread of COVID-19.

From July 1st through August 17th, average daily cases in the state increased 6-fold and are projected to more than double in the next two weeks based on current infection rates, according to the Montana Hospital Association.

The coalition that gathered for the presser on Thursday included representatives from dozens of organizations including the Montana Medical Association, Montana Nurses Association, and Association of Montana Public Health Officers.

They say that with the public’s help, it is possible to flatten the curve before the state’s hospitals become overwhelmed.
