MSU-Northern wrestling competed at the Reno Tournament of Champions event in Nevada recently and here are how the results fared.
Multiple wrestlers were able to get three matches, including 165-pounder Travis Waldner and 197-pounder Austin Vanek. Other key moments include the aforementioned Waldner, who actually wrestled fellow Lights teammate Ryan Graves, who is also in the 165-pound weight division. Waldner took him down by major decision, (10-2).
Other Lights wrestlers winning a match on the outing include Kade Willis at 133 pounds, Graves at 165 pounds, Lucas Thacker at 197 pounds, and Shane Mattson at 285 pounds.
MSU-Northern will have an extended break into the new school year. The next Lights event is scheduled for Jan. 10 and 11 with the National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals, held in Des Moines, IA.
