(NMB) The Havre Northstars American Legion Baseball team enters the final weekend of the regular season this weekend and will have their final six conference games at home before the post season begins next week. Head Coach Patch Wirtzberger says while it’s great to have the final six games at home it does present a different set of challenges.
“It’s always fun to have the last weekend of the season at home. We’ve got Senior Day, a lot of different things going on. Playing in front of your home crowd, it presents a new challenge. Trying to get focused and stay focused for an entire weekend but I’m excited about being in front of the home crowd. So, hopefully the boys can draw some energy from that and play well.-Wirtzberger
The Northstars final Homestand begins Friday Night at 6pm with a double header vs the Lethbridge Miners. Both teams sit at 20 and 2 and atop the North District standings, so, Friday’s games could go a long way in determining District tournament seeding. The Northstars will be back at legion field for a double header against Medicine Hat Saturday beginning at 3pm. Sunday’s final two regular season games versus Vauxhall start at 1pm.
The North District tournament runs July 20th through the 23rd in Vauxhall. The State Tournament July 27th through the July 31st in Laurel and Havre hosts the Northwest Regional Tournament August 4th through the 8th.
