Havre, MT – Havre Northstars baseball is approaching the end of the season riding a five-game winning streak with only five double headers remaining.
Havre has spent the last two weeks battling their way to the second spot in the North A standings with a 12-4 league record to set themselves up for a strong end to the season.
Northstar head coach Ben Made spoke to where his team has improved the most since the start of the season and how it has helped them win games.
“Our biggest improvement I would say is playing together in field. They’ve really come together and have been able to keep a clean field even though there might be an error here and there, they really help each other out.” Coach Mader stated.
“A good field allows us to pitch a bunch of different guys. We don’t need a shutdown pitcher; we just need a contact pitcher which then we use some younger arms and save some of our shut down guys for different teams and it really frees us up.”
Saturday the Northstars host the Fort Mcleod Royals for another conference double header. Coach Mader told NMB Sports how they will have to defend home field.
“Some Keys is those guys are swingers. They’re going to try and put the ball in play and keeping a clean field is going to be important.”
Havre now sits with a 21-16-1 overall record heading down the home stretch.
