Northstars on Hot Streak, Big Games Tuesday

The Havre Northstars American Legion Baseball team is on another hot streak at this point in the season. Winners of eight straight games with the latest victories resulting in winning the Glendive Tournament over the weekend.

New Media Broadcasters had a chance to speak with Head Coach Patch Wirtzberger and he said he was satisfied with the performance of the weekend, especially with the season winding down.

We ended up in the championship and was able to pull it out. A lot of different ways we had to win ballgames this weekend and found a way to get it done. Takeaway from that is the boys are resilient and they’re finding a way, which is a good thing this time of year.”-Wirtzberger

Next up for Havre is a Tuesday road test with the Lethbridge Miners, a team that has had the Northstars number this season, winning all three previous matchups.

Wirtzberger said the team will handle business on Tuesday.

Yes, I think our team is playing with a lot of confidence and finding a way to get it done. Lethbridge is a great team. So, it presents a really good challenge and we’re going to have to be focused for fourteen innings during this doubleheader if we’re going to hope to pull off a couple victories. I think this group is very capable of that and mature enough to know that the last three results of our games don’t really matter. We’re just going to try and compete out butts off and go up there and try and get a couple wins.”-Wirtzberger

The doubleheader in Lethbridge is set to begin at 5pm. Stay tuned on Wednesday for an updated story on if the Northstars can keep their winning streak alive.
