(NMB) The Havre Northstars American Legion Baseball team was in Kalispell on Sunday for a doubleheader and were swept by scores of 6 to 4 and 11 to 9.
In the first game, the Lakers scored first, putting up three runs in the second inning. Havre responded with three runs of their own in the top of the third to tie the game. Kalispell then racked up three more scores in the fourth inning, securing that game as the Northstars could only put one more runner across the plate, giving the home team the 6-4 victory. Havre collected 8 hits in the game. Tyson Brandon was 3 for 3 and Chasson (Chase-un) Mader drove in two runs.
In game two, the Northstars scored 3 runs in the top of the first after Quin Elliot singled, Colter Solomon walked and Connor Essert grounded out, each scoring one run. Kalispell was able to cut the lead by a run at the end of one. The Northstars reclaimed the lead in the second on a Tyson Brandon sacrifice fly, but the Lakers scored five runs in the bottom of the second on three hits to take a 6-4 lead. Havre regained lead again in the top of the 3rd. Tyson Brandon doubled and Chasson Mader singled, each scoring two runs. Kalispell took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning and went on to win 11-9. Havre had 8 hits in the game. Brandon was two for three with three RBI’s
The Northstars have a lone game this week, as they host the Great Falls Chargers AA team for a single nine inning game on Wednesday, May 28th.
