On January 1, 2024, a Montana law went into effect requiring websites to verify a person’s age in order to view content on the site.
Senate Bill 544 revised Montana law related to material considered harmful to minors and it’s distribution on the internet. The bill, sponsored by State Senator Willis Curdy (D-Missoula) passed 47-3 in the senate, and the House carried the bill 84-13.
Due to this change in Montana Law, Pornhub, one of the largest adult content providers on the web, has blocked all Montanans from accessing its material.
Utah, North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas have adopted measures similar to Montana’s law.
