Rodeo Riders Shine This Weekend In Havre

The PRCA Extreme Bares and Broncs competition took place at the Bigger Better Barn at the Great Northern Fairgrounds over the weekend. World champions and experienced veterans in Saddle Bronc Riding and Bareback Riding congregated for pro rodeo’s biggest weekend on the Hi-Line. The pot was $30,000 and the crowd was treated to the entertainment of “Danger Dave”.

The big winner of the weekend in Bareback was Ethan Mazurenko out of Kaycee, WY, who rode “Think Pink” from host contractor J Bar J. The stock scored a 21.5 out of 22.5, while the judges awarded Mazurenko a ride of 87.5. As a winner, he earned a payout of $5,386. Cole Franks of Clarendon, TX ranked second in the Bareback, collecting a $4,129 check after his Friday night performance, while world champion Keenan Hayes of Hayden, CO finished third and won $3,052.

In the Saddle Bronc wing, there was an exciting finish as two riders were tied at the top at the end of Saturday night. Cash Wilson from Wall, SD and Brody Wells of Powell, WY, both scored the same amount of points (83), while their stocks were operated by Muddy Creek Pro Rodeo. On Saturday night, Wilson had his success with “Prairie Wolf”, while “All Jacked Up” was the steed for Wells on Friday night. Each rider ended up going home with $4,882. Millarville, Alberta’s Layton Green was a second-place finisher in Saddle Bronc, scoring a $3,132 prize.
