Skull Found in Flathead Lake Did Not Belong to Modern Human

MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – NBC Montana reports that a skull discovered in Flathead Lake back on June 23rd has been determined to not have belonged to a modern human.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says the skull and teeth are archeological or historical in nature, likely from a Native American male that was between 30-60 years old.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is working with a local tribal preservation department on repatriation of the remains and to determine if there will be any DNA testing.
