Unseated Chippewa Cree Business Committee Member Files Protest

ROCKY BOY, Mont. (NMB) – An recently unseated Business Committee member for the Chippewa Cree Tribe on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation has filed a protest against the results of the election.

A press release from the Tribal Election Board says that Jody LaMere filed the protest on November 11th, alleging candidate misconduct in the distribution of expenditures to influence voting, electioneering at the booths, absentee voter qualifications, and candidate eligibility.

The Election Board has the ultimate responsibility to determine whether the protest set forth valid reason, based on the Constitution or Election Ordinance as to why the results shall not be final.

LaMere came in seventh place out of eight candidates. There are only four open seats on the Committee.
