(Havre) – A Roundup, Montana native is continuing a multigenerational family tradition at Montana State University-Northern while preparing for a future in education. Deserae Toombs, a third-year student studying elementary and physical education with a minor in integrated health sciences, is a third-generation student at the university, following her maternal grandmother and both of her parents.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Toombs is actively engaged in multiple sectors of campus life. She serves as a student ambassador in the Admissions Office, providing tours to prospective students and staff, and works as the administrative assistant for the Associated Students of MSU-Northern Student Senate.
Her leadership experience includes serving her second year as a resident assistant in Mackenzie Hall. Toombs was also a member of the university’s cross-country team before stepping away for medical reasons to focus on her health. Following her graduation, she intends to remain in Montana to teach physical education or fourth- through sixth-grade students.
