Weekly Hill County Commission Meeting

(Havre) – On Thursday May 9th, The Hill County Commission met for their weekly meeting. By a vote of 3-0 the Commission approved the Interlocal agreement formation authority and administration of abatement Region 2 for the Opioid Settlement. Commissioner Jake Strissel explained this Opioid Abatement money comes from a law suit the federal government filed against the pharmaceutical companies. The money was filtered down from the federal government to the state and is now filtering down from the state to the county. This agreement is in conjunction with six other north central Montana counties, requiring the passage by the commission of this interlocal agreement.

Commissioner Mark Peterson also updated those in attendance about the Hill County Flooding situation. The county has declared a flooding emergency for the county. This emergency could be declared a disaster by the commissioners once they have a chance to evaluate the total extent of the flooding. Commissioner Peterson is asking that residents of Hill County assist in this flooding damage evaluation by taking photos of any flooding in the county and then uploading them while providing further information via a link on the Hill County Health Department website and Facebook page.
