2021 Great Northern Fair Schedule Nearly Finalized

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening to continue discussions regarding the upcoming fair, set for July 14-18.

The event schedule for the fair is nearly finalized. When it comes to the grandstand, there will be three separate rodeo events. The opening Wednesday night of the fair will feature a junior rodeo, there will be an open rodeo on Thursday, and there will be a Northern Rodeo Association rodeo on Friday. Saturday will see the return of the Havre Jaycee’s Demolition Derby, while Sunday will feature live music and a street dance with The Robert Henry Band and Jessica Lynne Witty.

Other live music scheduled includes Shake Down Country on Friday evening and Zamtrip on Saturday evening. The schedule remains subject to change.

The Northern Winz Casino has expressed interest in holding a bull riding event on Sunday, but the Board said it may be too late in the process for this event to be planned out in time for the Fair.

Free entertainment during the fair includes a One Man Circus Show, a ‘Paz Baseball Show,’ and the Silver Starlets Acrobats.

In addition, the Board finalized the contract with Midway West Amusements out of Arizona for the midway during the Fair. The midway will be open all five days of the fair.

Also discussed at the meeting:

  • The 4-H sidewalk project should be completed in time for the fair, with concrete scheduled to be poured in mid-June
  • The Board approved spending up to $2,000 for as much as 100 yards of millings for the west parking lot of the Fairgrounds
  • The Board voted to post job listings for a seasonal secretary and groundscrew
  • The Fairgrounds have been sprayed to try and mitigate mosquitoes

The next Fair Board meeting will take place at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, June 16th at the Community Center at the Fairgrounds.
