The 9C-Senior Classic Basketball game took place at North Star High School this past Wednesday night, showcasing the talent of the previous season from the Hi-Line.
In the girls’ game, Chester-Joplin-Inverness’ Brynn Kammerzell and Box Elder’s Martay Rosette were the leading scorers for the White team over the Dark team, (72-57). The sophomore Hi-Line Hawk finished with 17, while the sophomore Bear chipped in with 15. Big Sandy’s Eva Yeadon led the way for Team Dark with a game-high 23 points. Kammerzell and Yeadon were each voted the game’s MVP.
Moving to the boys’ game, the (136-123) shootout produced eye-popping numbers from Box Elder’s Tuarie Stiffarm-Rosette (45 points) and Dreyden Anderson (37 points), who were part of the victorious Team White. The core of the Bears was broken up for this one as Tracen Jilot was on Team Dark and was still able to find a way to score 30 points in a losing effort. Stiffarm-Rosette and Jilot would come back together to share the MVP honors.
The miscellaneous events were entertaining as well. Kelcie Mount of Hays-Lodgepole won the 3-point competition over Yeadon, knocking down 48 triples. Stiffarm-Rosette stepped up and canned 56 3-pointers to win the boys’ competition.
