23 area wrestlers earned state tournament berths after the Eastern A Divisional tournament in Hardin this weekend.
Teamwise, the Blue Ponies finished 6th at 160.5 points, while Fergus took 7th at 93 points. In the girl’s meet, Havre claimed 3rd with 98 points, followed up by Fergus in 4th at 85.5 points.
In results for the boys, Reid Mantle picked up 5th place in the 128# division. Matt Lemer also claimed 5th at 132#. Carrson Harris finished 6th at 138#. Tristan Stygles earned 4th place at 145#, Reinhold Bold took 2nd at 152#. Landen Caplette garnered 4th place at 170#. Two Fergus wrestlers placed at 182#, with Wyatt Elem taking the division championship and Quinn Boogman finishing 4th. at 205# Pierce Caplette came in 4th, and Jack Pallett of Fergus finished 6th. Tommy Lewis picked up 2nd in the 285# class.
For the girl’s competition, Alyson Kaul finished 2nd at 100#, McKenna Caplette claimed 3rd at 114#. Fergus’ Grace Hicks came in 3rd at 120#, defeating Brookln Wilting who finished 4th. Brooklyn Nelson captured 4th at 126#, Camryn Fiscus of Fergus took the 132# championship, and Paloma Padilla (pad ee yah) gained 2nd at 145#. Lidia D’Hooge (duh ooj) picked up the 152# championship, while Lexie Wichman (wick man) of Fergus picked up 4th place. At 165#, Fergus’ Kate Maxwell finished 2nd. Angelica Siebenaller (see ben all er) was a 3rd place finisher at 185#. Aliyah Stiffarm picked up the championship at 235#.
All of these wrestlers will advance to State Tournament action next weekend, February 9 and 10, at the Billings Metra.
