(Sweetgrass) A commercial truck driver from Canada today admitted to a cocaine trafficking crime after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found approximately 30 kilograms of cocaine in watermelon pallets as the driver was attempting to enter Canada at the Montana border town of Sweetgrass.
Kareshmaa Kaur Jagroop, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Jagroop faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, a 1 million dollar fine and at least three years of supervised release.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided.
The court will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The court set sentencing for May 23. Jagroop was released on conditions to a treatment center in Montana pending further proceedings.
