HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The anticipated move of the H Earl Clack Museum from the Havre Holiday Village Mall to its new location in downtown Havre is ramping up. From organizing volunteers to taking apart and carefully packing exhibits to reassembling them in the new location is culminating to a grand exit.
Elaine Morse, President of the Museum foundation, says the museum has given their notice but there is still much to do.
“We have given our notice at the mall that we intend to be out by the end of April. That’s having everything moved from the mall but that does not mean the museum will be ready to open.”
The foundation is in the process of coordinating a couple of dates to have the MSU Northern football team help move some of the larger pieces and exhibits, which Morse says are quite heavy.
“The displays are heavy, and big! We want to have enough bodies to move them safely.”
Morse said there were benefits to the museum by being in its new location.
“For one thing it will be centrally located, so we will be an active member of downtown, and the biggest thing for us is that building is owned by the foundation so we will no longer be paying rent.”
Morse is not worried about the museum impacting traffic flow or parking and feels the museum does not generate large enough crowds for that to be a problem for downtown.
