(NMB) The 3rd annual Bear Paw Marathon is set for this Saturday. There will be a full marathon, Half marathon and a 5K fun run/walk. All races start in the Bear Paw Mountains and finish in front of Cowan Hall on the MSU Northern Campus. For community members wanting to cheer on the individual participants, Havre Chamber Executive Director Jessica Fagerbakke says the best place to do so is at the finish line.
“We highly encourage everyone to come to the finish line. The finish line is at Cowan Hall. So, you can park at the Armory Gym Parking Lot and come and cheer on the runners as they cross the finish line. We’ll have some food trucks and vendors set up and it’s a really great atmosphere and all tjhose runners just love it when they have a huge crowd cheering them on for that last home stretch.”-Fagerbakke
Start times for each of the races on Saturday are: 6am for the Full Marathon, 7am for the Half Marathon and 7:30am for the 5K fun run/Walk. Please be aware of runners and some road closures on Saturday morning along the route in Beaver Creek Park.
Here are the road Closures to be aware of:
Hwy 234 (Bear Paw Hwy)
SOUTH bound lane will be shut down from 6am to 12pm from Butte
Road to Sucker Creek Road. There will be a pilot car leading traffic on
the north bound lane. Expect short delays.
This may affect commute times and we ask that everyone plan
accordingly. Road closures are to ensure the safety of the runners and
volunteers.
Sucker Creek Rd CLOSED from 6am to 7am
First Lake Road CLOSED from 7am to 10am
Butte Road CLOSED from 7am to 12pm
