(Havre) – The Northstars hosted a doubler against the Mcloed Royals on the eve of independence day. Game 1 saw the Northstars win in dominating fashion on the shoulders of Tanner Delarosa with a final of 8-3.
After two trips to the plate with no scores on either ream, the Havre offense broke through in the bottom of the third inning for 6 runs then followed it up with two runs in the fourth. A late response from McLeod saw the Royals put up three combined runs in the sixth and seventh inning. Havre scored by committee as 6 different Northstars all had one RBI, while Tyson Brandon and Tommy Lewis lead the team in hits with two. Tanner Delarosa dominated on the mound pitching just over six innings, throwing 12 strike outs, only giving up four hits, and one run.
Game 2 saw different trends to start the ball game with the Royals collecting three runs in the first two innings and one run in the third to take a 7-3 lead. In the fourth the Northstars once again mounted a comeback and knocked in three runs in the fourth and fifth innings then put up four runs in the sixth to take a commanding 13-7 lead that ultimately secured the victory.
Ezra Pyle led the team in RBI’s with three while 6 six different Northstarts collected a hit and were led by Tyson Brandon with three hits in three at bats. Chason Madder got the win on the mound for Havre after giving up zero runs and only 3 hits in four innings pitched.
With these wins the Havre Northstars are 27-10-1 on the year and sit atop the North district standings at 18-2 and have started 4-0 in a 10 game home stand before district play ends on the road in late July.
