Woofstock Fundraising Event Set for Saturday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The second edition of Woofstock is set for Saturday, August 10 from 4-8 pm in Havre’s Pepin Park.

Kim Federspiel, President of Friends of the Havre Animal Shelter, says there will be no shortage of activities at this year’s iteration of Woofstock.

“We have three bands. We have a slideshow of different things that we’ve done throughout the year at the shelter and friends of the shelter that we’ve done and different stats,” Federspiel said. “We’ll have a silent auction, there will be  some vendors set up most of them having something to do with animals. We have two food trucks, Streetery and Parker’s BBQ Pit, and Triple Dog sponsoring the beer.”

Entrance into the event is free, but there will be plenty of things available for purchase.

“We’ll have t-shirts and stuff for sale,” Federspiel said. “There’s a silent auction and there will be food, beer, pop and water. But as far as admission goes, if you want to come in and just listen to some music and say hi to everybody, that’s more than fine by us.”

Although dogs are not normally allowed in Pepin Park, Havre has allowed an exception to be made for Woofstock, with the city council having voted on the proposal.

The money raised at Woofstock will be used for expenses that are outside of the Havre Animal Shelter’s normal operation budget, ranging from paying for veterinary expenses to a trap/neuter release program to a new program allowing low income residents to have their pets spaying or neutering and vaccinations paid for.
