Texas Trial Set for January for Former Hill County Attorney

ABILENE, Texas (NMB) – A trial has been set for former Hill County Attorney Jessica Cole-Hodgkinson, who has been accused of shooting her estranged husband in Abilene, Texas. The 48-year-old’s trial has been set for Monday, January 27th in Taylor County, Texas.

Cole-Hodgkinson was arrested on February 3rd on one count of aggravated assault family violence and bonded out the next day.

Abilene Police say the victim arrived home and discovered he was locked out by his wife. He gained entry and found Cole-Hodgkinson in the bathroom armed with a handgun. She allegedly shot him several times in the abdomen and right shoulder. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Police said they found Cole-Hodgkinson at a next-door neighbor’s residence.

Cole-Hodgkinson resigned as Hill County Attorney in July 2018 amid allegations she was unprepared to prosecute cases. She was convicted of contempt of court charges for missing three court hearings in June 2018.
