Skylights Volleyball Looks to Snap Six-Game Losing Streak

Havre, MT – The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball team is looking to turn things around after dropping two matches on the road last weekend against Mayville State and Valley City State, extending its losing streak to six games.

On Friday, the Skylights took the opening set against Mayville State 25–18 before the Comets rallied to win the next three sets. Macy Uffelman led Northern with 18 kills and 26 digs, while Josie Hasler added 12 kills and 22 digs. Emily Bird and Addison Falls Down contributed 19 and 18 assists, respectively.

Saturday’s matchup against Valley City State proved to be another tight contest. After falling behind two sets, the Skylights battled back before ultimately losing the decisive fifth set 21–19. Uffelman, Hasler and Caleigh Case each recorded 13 kills, while Case led the team with eight blocks.

With the team looking to get back on track, head coach Jerry Wagner shared his thoughts on the recent performances and what the Skylights are focusing on in practice.

“There’s nothing special we’re doing; we’re working on the right things. We’re putting ourselves in position to have much more success than we’ve been able to have. We’re going to continue on with our excellent effort and outstanding attitude on this team.” Said Wagner.

The Skylights will look to snap their losing streak this weekend with two home matches at the Armory. Northern hosts Bismarck State College on Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on Dickinson State University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
