FORT BENTON, Mont. (NMB) – The 2019 General Elections are fast approaching and the City of Fort Benton has one issue on the ballots. The City is requesting a bond for $2.68 million to fix old streets around town. Mayor Rick Morris says this bond would cost landowners about $125 per year for 20 years on a $100,000 property.
“We’re trying to pass a general obligation bond. We’re going to try to overlay the original paved streets in the City of Fort Benton, as well as chip seal them and do some storm drain and curbing work. $2.7 million bond, we have an additional $300,000 of City money that we can invest in the project as well. About $3 million.”
The elections will take place on November 5th and all of our local elections this year will be mail-in ballots only.
