Havre, MT – It was a season to remember for the Havre Northstars and first-year head coach Ben Mader.
One of the biggest challenges Mader faced throughout his first season at the helm was managing a roster while keeping players prepared to step onto the field when their number was called.
“Having to deal without players and making sure everyone is ready to take the field when we need them to. We did an OK job at that towards the end, but there was a little bit of jitters, but they came through and handled their business,” Mader said.
After navigating those challenges, Mader reflected on what made his first season as head coach especially rewarding. For him, it went beyond what happened between the lines.
“Getting to know the boys, because they’re all different. They’re all a really good group of boys, but I’d say the most fun part was just seeing them together and them doing their thing on and off the field.”
With a successful first season in the books, the Northstars and Mader will look to carry the energy, chemistry and momentum they built this year into the next season.
