Red Cross: Healthy Donors Needed to Maintain Blood Supply

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – As flu activity picks up this fall, the American Red Cross is urging health donors of all blood types to give blood to ensure a strong blood supply for patients in need. A press release says that blood and platelets can only be given by donors who are feeling well.

One way to maintain health is to get a flue vaccine each fall. There is no waiting period to give blood after receiving a flu shot as long as the donor is symptom and fever-free.

In November, blood donations will be accepted in Great Falls on Tuesday, November 12th from 11 AM to 4 PM at the History Museum. On the 13th, you can donate at Riverview Elementary School in Great Falls from 11 AM to 6 PM.

On Thursday, November 14th, donations will be accepted at the Montana Agricultural Center in Fort Benton from 1 to 6 PM.
