BIG SANDY, Mont. (NMB) – Early Saturday morning, a man crashed his car into a metal pylon in Big Sandy before fleeing the scene, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Cade Hill.
The crash occurred around 12:45 am Saturday morning near the intersection of Johannes Avenue West and 2nd Street. The car, a 2015 Nissan Juke, was headed westbound on Johannes Avenue when it stuck a metal pylon over a drain by 2nd street. The car came to a rest on the passenger side in the middle of Johannes Avenue West.
The vehicle, which was totaled, was towed from the scene. A combination of alcohol and prescription medication, along with excessive speed, were potential factors in the crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The registered owner of the vehicle, a male in his early 30s, was issued a traffic citation upon follow-up by Montana Highway Patrol. He did not suffer serious injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
