HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On December 15th, a group of lucky kids will participate in the Havre Police Department’s annual Shop with a Cop program. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says that parents must turn in the application for their children between the ages of 5 and 12 by Wednesday, December 5th.
“Shop with a Cop is a Christmas program that we’ve been doing for several years now, I guess. It’s investing, you know, in our community, our children, our future. And shopping with kids and bonding with them for future generations.”
The kids that are chosen to participate will have a full day on December 15th.
“We start off in the morning with a breakfast. Then, at that point, we proceed to go out to Wal-Mart and we take the kids shopping out there. After shopping, we then go to Pizza Hut for lunch. And after lunch, then we go to the Boys & Girls Club and that’s where we wrap all the presents that were purchased.”
The kids and officers will shop at Wal-Mart for their families and themselves, then wrap the gifts at the Boys & Girls Club. Applications can be picked up at the Havre Police Department and need to be returned by Wednesday. People who want to participate will have to provide proof of residency.
