HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday night.
Changes to the qualifications for Havre Police Officers was passed unanimously on second reading. These changes will remove the upper age limit and add a residency requirement, similar to the qualifications for firefighters.
The Council also unanimously approved a resolution to be a co-sponsor for a planning grant that the Clear Creek Trailer Court is seeking to replace their sanitary sewer system. Clear Creek has said they will pay for any costs not covered by the grant, so the city is not on the hook for any money.
Public Works Director Dave Peterson officially recognized the Havre Wastewater Treatment Plant for receiving an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the innovative way they use spent barley to clean sewage before it goes into the Milk River. Plant Superintendent Drue Newfield gave a speech before Peterson presented him with a plaque from the EPA.
A boy scout was the lone member of the public to comment. He asked the council to recognize the week of February 9th as Scouts BSA week. The council said they will put it on their agenda at the next meeting.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for February 3.
