HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) − The Great Northern Fair board met on Tuesday night at the Hill County Courthouse for their regularly scheduled meeting.
No votes were cast on any agenda items, but a number of issues were discussed.
The board mentioned they are still awaiting on their insurance check for damage caused this fall to their office building from a snowstorm. The building was declared a loss and the check worth over $160,000 will go into their capital improvements fund.
Despite the building being declared a loss, they belief it might still be able to be used for storage and are looking at putting a center beam rather than tearing it down.
Chelby Gooch spoke to discuss entertainment plans for the Great Northern Fair. Besides the returning events such as the Cody Four Colors Memorial Bullriding and the Demolition Derby, there will also be a circus show. Other returning events from last year include Barnyard races and Paz the Hockey Guy.
One new act this year will be the Silver Starlites acrobats and bands and artists including the Robert Henry Band, Shakedown County and Jessica Lynne.
Jim Bennett, President of the Havre Lion’s Club, spoke at the end of the meeting about the potential for the International Lion’s Club to help fund a matching grant for improvements to the fairgrounds. Ideas discussed included adding shade tot the grandstand or renovating the bathrooms. No action was taken at this time.
The next fair board meeting will take place on March 17.
