HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre City Council member Caleb Hutchins has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the month.
In his resignation letter, Hutchins said he is moving to Spokane, Washington, in May after accepting a job offer.
Hutchins added that, “I’m proud of the work City Council has done in the last five years during my time of service. We dealt with some difficult and controversial topics, and did not always see eye-to-eye. However, I always believed that every councilmember was working in good faith toward a brighter future for the city and people of Havre. I hope that Havre will continue to be well served by the efforts of the Council and Mayor, and that a competent and passionate individual will step up to fill my absent seat for Ward 3.”
Hutchins has represented Havre’s Third Ward since being elected in 2015. He was re-elected in 2019.
At the next Council meeting in May, the remaining seven members will declare a vacancy. After they advertise the open position for 30 days, the City Council will select a replacement.
The seat will be up for election in November 2021.
