HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Steve Bullock alongside the COVID-19 Task Force held a tele-town hall Monday, April 13 to answer questions regarding Montana’s response to the virus.
Bullock said we’ve taken aggressive steps to stop the spread of COVID-19 and the only way to fully return to a healthy economy is to first make sure we have a healthy community.
“I really do view this through a lens of public health and an economic challenge that’s impacting communities and individuals we serve. In order to have a healthy economy though, we have to have a health population.”
During the meeting a schoolteacher in Missoula, asked if school and students would be returning to school any time soon.
“I’ll try to be as transparent as possible. I just think that as we’ve taken aggressive action, as we’ve been taking good steps that I’m not prepared to say that we should more less write off the rest of the school year, because things could change. I’ve talked to a lot of teacher’s that were like, boy I’d love to be able to see my kiddos again and I know that a lot of kids would feel the same.”
In response to another question, Bullock also stated that counties with little to no COVID-19 cases should still act as if there is a threat, because there is always a chance to run into an individual that has the virus but has not yet been tested and/or confirmed a positive case.
