HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Board of Health hosted an online COVID-19 phone conference Wednesday, April 15 to provide updates regarding the current situation.
During the meeting, The Hill County Health Department provided reports concerning immunizations, family planning and environmental health.
Public Health Director Kim Larson commented that despite the closure it is very important to start providing immunizations again soon, because if immunizations miss their schedules other viruses could start to crop up.
“Bullhook and the clinic are still both providing well-child visits and immunizations for children and adults. So, I feel like we’re not really missing a lot within our community but we don’t want to have a measles outbreak on top of the COVID-19 issue that we’re having right now.”
Larson said they are taking this very seriously and are currently discussing how to set up a safe temporary examine room for immunizations during this pandemic.
“We’re going to set up a temporary exam room within our waiting room and we have barriers and everything so it would make it private. But that way the community members wouldn’t have to come all the way into our building and we’d be able to contain it to one room and be able to clean and monitor it very closely. So, we’re looking into that and taking it pretty seriously.”
