HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The race for District one’s Chouteau County Commissioner is underway and New Media Broadcaster’s spoke with candidate Rick Darlington about his campaign’s goals.
Darlington is a 4th generation rancher who resides with his wife of 42 years and their three daughters just southeast of Big Sandy and he said he’s in the race for two reasons.
“Road conditions in District One are horrible. Trying to remedy that problem would be the first thing. The second thing is we have to be proactive on things like free roaming buffalo and, if we’re proactive at the local level, we can get some of that stopped or at least make them have to manage the wildlife like they would cattle.”
Darlington said this spring they started to see some of their tax dollars at work in repairing the roads, but he says the repairs are not being done right.
“We’re just putting gravel on the roads; we’re not fixing the roads before they put it down. I believe we need to go in there and fix the roads before we gravel – It’s about getting it done and getting it done right.”
Darlington wants the public to know he is very welcoming and willing to work hard for the people.
“I’m open-minded and very approachable and willing to visit with any of the voters about issues they have, and concerns and I’d appreciate their vote.”
