GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – A Sunburst woman accused of stealing mail has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Great Falls.
Former Postal Service Employee Amanda Jean Holland pleaded guilty last week to the felonies of theft and destruction of mail.
As part of the agreement, Holland admitted to stealing cash and gift cards contained in letters and cards, and to destroying letters and cards that were intended to be conveyed by mail.
Court documents state that from November 2018 to August 2019, Holland, a U.S. Postal Service employee, removed and stole cash and gift cards obtained within letters and greeting cards, and also opened and destroyed letters and greeting cards intended to be conveyed by mail. Holland worked in both Sweet Grass and Sunburst.
The court is recommending that Holland receives a probationary sentence as long as she does not violate her conditions of pretrial release before sentencing.
Holland has also agreed to pay $2,065 in restitution.
Holland previously pleaded not guilty on both counts at her arraignment in early April. She was indicted by a grand jury on February 20th.
Sentencing is set for September 3rd at 1:30 PM.
