HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Steve Bullock was in Bozeman July 7 to discuss mask wearing and the new COVID-19 cases confirmed at Canyon Creek Memory Care in Yellowstone County.
In light of 58 confirmed cases at Canyon Creek, Bullock issued a mandatory order that all long-term care facilities must participate in COVID-19 testing to have any form of visitation occur.
Bullock said, “The purpose of this rule is to prevent what happened at Canyon Creek moving forward.”
At the press conference, Bullock was joined by MSU Bobcats Football Coach Jeff Choate. Together they urged Montanans to wear face masks to help protect themselves against COVID-19 with a new mask-up campaign.
Coach Choate said, “This is something that should unite our state not divide it…I am looking forward to seeing all bobcats and grizzlies join the mask-up campaign.”
Bullock concluded that everyone should mask up but did not mandate it as he still hopes Montana doesn’t reach that point.
Last week, Montana met and exceeded its 15,000 a week testing goal for the first time with a total of 17,913 tests completed.
