
HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Hill County has announced that they have been chosen to receive an award of $4,361 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs.
The selection was made by a board chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and includes representatives from organizations that include the American Red Cross and United Way.
The Hill County FEMA Board will now determine how the funds will be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations.
Organizations chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or organization, and must have a voluntary board.
Organizations that have previously received similar funds include The Havre Food Bank, Greater Havre Area Ministerial Association and Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen.
Interested organizations must send a letter stating the amount of funds requested and their intended use to Alma Garcia, District 4 HRDC, 2229 5th Avenue, Havre, MT 59501. Letters must be post marked by July 27th.
